WOT?
I’ve been messing around with Manga Studio 4 recently. This is the second piece I’ve done with that software. Don’t really like the drawing of the guy that much, but manga studio certainly helps speed up my process. I’m really enjoying this program! And for only fifty bucks I’d recommend it to anyone. If you already have a tablet just think of it as investing fifty dollars into a really nice ink-brush pen that will last forever and never run out of ink. Oh, and a lifetime supply of letraset screentone too! As an artist or illustrator that’s a deal you can’t deny. I’m definitely going to be phasing out Photoshop in lieu of Manga Studio when it comes to my inking/line-refinement and grayscale-value setting processes. It’s just that good.
But on the other hand I definitely won’t be betraying Photoshop for my colours anytime soon… unless of course I ever manage to try Corel Painter… which looks tantalizingly awesome…
Rough preliminary sketch (not visible), linework, and shading all done in Manga Studio. Colour and highlights done in Photoshop.

Did this one in photoshop about 4 or 5 months ago.
Hell Week
Yeah, this week just wouldn’t end. Three projects were due. I am completely exhausted.
These are just a few quick and generic spot illustrations for Fat Possum Records.
This are a few finished drawings from a process book that I created a concept for. It’s a mash-up of Godzilla, Canadiana, Calvin and Hobbes, and The Power Rangers.
Here’s the antagonist baseball card to pair with Scotty Smalls. Both cards relate to characters in the movie The Sandlot.

The Plastic Surgeon Gods
This is the final illustration that goes with an article written about plastic surgery. Apparently there are offices in Australia that are offering loans to their clients. It even sounds like the surgeons are recommending certain loans to their clients and pairing certain payment plans to certain procedures. So now people who normally couldn’t afford the surgery are getting the surgery, but because they can’t afford the payments they are just getting deeper in debt. It just seems pretty shady.
So here it is: the sacrifice to the surgeon gods.

SCHOOL IS FOR LOSERS/ME
Hey, School is back in and It’s my last year at ACAD. So before I get too busy or too sleepy I have a couple things to post up here. This is a sample of a couple projects that are in progress right now.
I have to do a protagonist and antagonist portrait for a figure illustration class. Here’s the protagonist, Scotty Smalls, from the movie The Sandlot.

Next up is a corporate illustration project. This whole thing is getting dumped in favor of a better concept. But I put a little work into it so I thought I’d at least show what I came up with. The illustration is about an article on plastic surgery and how there are plastic surgery offices that are offering loans to their patients for their new look. Creepy.

BIG DUMP
I’ve been pretty busy lately and haven’t had the chance to get around to scanning and uploading stuff from the last few weeks. Some of this is figure drawing, some of this is just random drawings, and there’s also 4 weeks worth of skratch klub material in here too.
So yeah. Peruse at your leisure.
Okay, I KNOW the hand is screwed up in that one. It’s not finished. We were finishing up at skratch klub before I had time to put any finishing touches/corrections on this one. Take it for what it is.
WHEW! Finished!
everything looks better in chrome
So seemingly out of nowhere google launched it’s own browser today called Google Chrome. I am currently using it now and it seems pretty nice. But my favourite part about this whole thing is that it gives me an excuse to read a new online comic by Scott McLoud:

It doesn’t get any better than that! Check it out!
